i have been reading the past threads about custom tunes and it seems the nelson tune is the choice by far. i am curious about what kind of gains i will see and if this is a mod i should do now or wait till i do some more mods. as of now i have a 00 ecsb 4x4 with flowmaster single in dual out exhaust, and a aem brute force intake. My near future plans are a set of AS&M headers and a camaro electric fan, also is the ls1 fan enough for my truck if i tow?

ok. if you tow all the time i would try to go with flex a lites. or leave in the stock fan. as for the tune--go for it--.the updates for mods are just shipping costs.the asm.s might move your fuel trim's a little but no biggie.and he can set it up for pure performance or a tow tune also.he offers dual octane tuning as well.and i believe his dyno is going to be in this week.and remember that a tune is by far one of the best mods and allen is the man.

i actually dont tow often, probaly the only time i will is when i move (active air force) i like to move my own stuff. when i moved to arizona i towed a 5000 lb u -haul trailer for 1500 miles, that was the last time i towed anything and it was 2 years ago. is there a cheaper alternative to as&m headers with compariable quaility.

im looking at doug thorley tri y headers.you can go shorties.long tubes yield tru hp. if you are only going to tow every once in a while then go ls1 for the money.i think the htorley's are 429 to 629

 

well with my NELSON tune it got me 4/10 over my hpp3 in the 1/4 and so much more driveing around but this is just my opinion my opinion my opinion he is the best.later, kevin

I am ditching the hpp3 for a nelson tune also hope the results are worth the money.

 

I have put 250 miles on my Nelson tune and untill about 200 miles on it I could have swore that I was quicker with the Hypertech! Then I got up one morning it is was starting to become really strong and I am still seeing gains. Ill be getting my new tune next week when I get the Transgo and servo installed!!! No more TM!!!!!

 

whats up fellas,,,,,i got a funny story but first,,,,as for nelson tunes,,they rock,,no question,,i had the hpp3,,,,,,,which is very good,,im not knocking it,,but allen at nelson performance is a really nice guy to deal with and if you want a tune,,,go with nelsons,,,there is no better,,hands down,end of story,kaput,,,unless you get ls1 edit and efi live and tinker with it yourself,,but remember,,you can tinker with it,,and do it wrong,,allen has done all the ground work for you,,,,,,,

headers,,,,as & ms are very good,,so are lapoles,,but doug thorleys are very very good as well,,,,,,i got doug thorleys,,they are a true mid to long tube design,and they are tri y which will help your heavy truck,,,i would recommend them,,,even if you have all kinds of bling bling laying around,,id still get the thorleys,,,,,not knocking the others,,but why spend the extra cash,,,as far as shorties,,yeah,,they work,,but if your gonna spend money,,get the long tubes,,you will not have to kick yourself in the *** later...,,,,,,,now,,the funny story,,

this shows you how cool allen is at nelson performance,,bout two months ago i got a tune from him,,and you know how your supposed to send your old computer back to him after you get his,,well,,i brain farted,,and put my computer back in the box and put it on the shelf,,a couple days ago,,i was cleaning around the house,and was like,,uh oh,,,i think i boobooed,,,so i emailed him,and he was like,,yeah,,send it back if you would,,no fuss,,no muss,,and he didnt even call me any dirty names,,,,so please,,,when you get your tune,,,dont do a disservice to a great guy like allen like i did and forget to send the pcm,,,,,for everyone of us that sort of screws him,,means that he might have to charge a higher price for the ecms in the future,,needless to say,,,,saturday,,,my next day off,,im next day air the computer back to him,,anyhow,,have a great day guys,,and be safe
