Build a 4" intake. For about $150 you can buy a silicone 90*, 45*, some 4" aluminum tube and new air filter. Then you have no worries of restriction. Since you are SD you can leave the MAF out if you haven't already to get a full 4" up to the throttle.

One way of building the intake would be to use some 4" aluminum 90s and straight silicone couplings. The Al. 90s are $35 each so it will work out a little cheaper than using silicone bends. You can cut 45s or whatever you need out of the 90s. If you have access to a tig welder you can weld the whole thing up.

IMO you don't want to go any smaller that your TB opening... So I would keep it at 85mm or larger... BTW I have a 2ft section of 4in Aluminum intake piping you can have for free if you pay the shipping (~$10). I accidently ordered it instead of steel and I don't need it cause I can't weld Aluminum....

ive gotten some 4in exhaust i was goin to just have 4in 90 and straight 4in exhaust going to my cold air box..ill prolly just weld it to the box...btw heres a late 90's model mustang gt with a lightning motor i made a cold air for.. the pic just shows the top section..it actually goes on down into the fender and bumper and lays down..that was the way the dude wanted it..no hood was going to fit it anyways at the time.and the maf is on the end with the air cleaner..this was actually made out of a 4in diesel exhaust we took off a truck

On the vette motor, did you have to buy the alternator red, or was it powdercoated?
