Default Need help finding a cam for my 08 4.8?

I have made up my mind and i wanna do a cam swap i dont really know much about engines but i do know i want a choppy cam (ik the tune has to do with the choppy ness as well) idc about performance bc the engine has like 232k+ miles and don’t care about the engine because id rather dump money into 6.0 or 6.2. I want to go with a tsp stage 4 low lift 4.8 cam kit but i read somewhere that i will need a stall converter. Please someone help educate me on what i will need to buy to get it to run right and nice but performance is not what i am going for. Also here is the link to the a tsp stage 4 cam kit i found https://www.amsracing.net/products/texas-speed-tsp-stage-1-low-lift-truck-cam-kit-for-chevrolet-4-8l-5-3l-6-0l-ls?variant=41544909258951

If you go smaller you won't need a converter and you'll have more giddy-up and go. The BTR "Truck Norris" camshaft is a good choice allowing you to keep the factory converter and with it's narrow 107* degree LSA is really chops nicely. Plus it's a better camshaft for the small 4.8 engine. Any camshaft swap will require a tune.

For the small 4.8L with lots of chop and stock convertor, my vote goes to the Callies 180-009. Especially if your gearing is < 3.73s on stock height tires and your running stock compression. It's a 210/218 on 108 LSA so it has the overlap for lots of chop, but excellent street manners with stock convertor and mild gears even for such a displacement. Will pull well past 6200rpm.

Why? It is gonna give you the chop you want. At this point you are barely gonna be able to drive the damn thing lol but here is the most aggressive **** ever and is exactly what you want
https://www.texas-speed.com/p-9130-t...edral-cam.aspx

Actually we could probably get something bigger but this will do what you want
The larger/more aggressive you go, the worse it will be to drive. Sure a torque converter definitely helps the drivability but your mileage is going to go wayyy down, then all your buddies are gonna smoke the **** out of you in their stock trucks cause you are leaving the line slower than a snail. If you are planning on a 6.0 or 6.2 just do that. Don't waste your money on a 4.8 cam if you are already wanting to get a bigger engine.

Spend the money on a 6.0 or 6.2, as shakenfake said. Don’t waste time on a big ***, choppy cam for a 4.8. That’s a good $700-1k you could’ve spent on a bigger engine.

Good point. If wanting a 6.0 anyway, sell the 4.8 as a running engine and focus the money on the larger engine. More aggressive cam with the current setup beyond what has been suggested will be a total dog, drive like garbage, and have a power curve won't even get close to stock until high rpm range. Might as well just pull a spark plug.
