Default Need help with dmh cutout install

Finally got a dmh cutout for the truck but I'm not sure how to install it. The main thing is I'm not sure where to hook up the positive cable to supply power. I've heard a lot of people using the cig lighter, but I'm a newb so I was wondering if someone could give me some more detailed instructions on this.

simply cut and splice into the wires running to the cig lighter. this is how i did it and it has been working flawlessly almost a year now.

I knew I would feel stupid for asking.. I thought it was supposed to be hooked up to a switchable source, which I thought the cig lighter stays on even with the ignition off.

If you think about it it's still on a switchable source being it has a switch...

I have the center console etc etc in my ccsb. Mine had 2 power points one on each side of the console i used my the driver side plug. Same as the other guys just splice and connect. Here's some crappy cell pics i snapped real quick to give a idea...

Yes my truck is filthy please excuse...

Here is my center console i sed the one to the right and the whole black piece will pull out so its easy to access everything

Heres a pic of the switch installed. I took the outer ring off of the old power supply to use as a mounting piece for the switch. Im sure there is better ways but it's the way i did it. I did use some epoxy to keep it straight and from wobbling around as the mounting rin i used was a little sloppy...(u can see the epoxy in the close up pic with the flash i didnt clean it up very good but i dont care it's functional)!

I ran the cord behind the console and under the carpet to the door where i drilled a hole and siliconed it up after i had everything in place

Then i just ran the power supply along my torsion key crossmember with a couple of zip ties and thats it

I went with a switchable source in the right bussed electrical center, which is right under the triangle panel on the right side of the dash. There is a dark green wire which is used to power the passenger window switch and motor, and it is fused with a 25a circuit breaker. I figured that this would be a good fused source that would not be powered up with the key off. I ran the harness along the right side sill plate and out through the body vent, so I didn't have any non factory holes when I was done. My switch is located in the dash next to the radio (also next to the air bag off switch). It worked out that I had just enough harness the way that I did it. It probably still would have worked if I used the power outlet, but I only have one of those left as I used one for a switch for an under dash blue neon light, a long time ago. It's working great, and a ton of fun to play with!
