I fixin' to do a cam swap REAL quick here. How do you guys think that cam (tr224-112) would do in a 4.8 ecsb? Would it be too much, b/c of the extra weight. How does this cam compare to the LS1 hot cam (219/228 .525/.525-112)? I ask that because Allen said he's had experience tuning that cam. So he shouldn't have trouble with the tr224-112 right?

just curious as to what you would suggest.
and how much HP would I look at getting?
The TR224/112LSA should pick you up near 40rwhp without tuning, just going off of their dyno graph.

You gotta watch out for falling on your face after each shift with a cam that size in a small motor., so the best thing to do would be flattin out that upper hp. Headers/intake/intake manifold/tuning are all gonna affect that. just get it all workin where your keepin the power and not loosing it after shift time. think about it. you gotta build all that power back up so a huge peaky cam could be a bummer.

i hear Futral MotorSports makes great under the curve cams. I'd give him a call or email him. Tell him, what you want (your purpose is to get in the 13's correct? just checkin), gear, stall, motor, mods, and driveability. That'll give you somethin to go off of, or maybe you'll like the specs enough to go with it.

if you need that cam now. go for it. i think your truck ,except for being a smaller displacement has things goin for it. You got alot of mods/ good stall/ good gears/ light weight truck.

just throwin somethin out there for ya. maybe we can get a discussion going here!

well if I get the cam I dont think there will be a problem in selling it if it doesnt work for me.
Allen will be tuning the cam so I pretty sure we can get it under control.
I have 3.73's a 2800 stall that flashes up to 3100, and a short stroke 4.8L. I like the torque curve of the 224.
I went to FMS and their web site doesnt work?
so I didnt think they had anything.......

When do you plan on doing this swap? I'm getting anxious to do mine, but I want to know how it turns out for you Thunder. I just want to know how long I need to wait.

Please, please, please let us know how it goes the second you get it done!

thunder, let me know what cam you decide to go with. I am really interested on how a bigger cam would act in a 4.8 like ours.

The B1's and T1's are still sold by Lunati.

Lunati used to grind them for MTI, I believe. The cams were originally associted with MTI.
