Default my truck is running again, too!!

My truck has been down since the last of November! I built a new tranny back in December, drove it about 50 miles and then the motor went. Just got it running today. Put about 5 miles on it so far, going to drive it to work tomorrow. Here is the basic combo: 30 over 6 liter, custom diamond pistons, h beam forged rods, arp bolts, custom comp cam 222/228 on a 114, and home ported 317 heads. I didn't put the blower belt on yet, just to help with the temptation of hammering it before the rings even seat in. This one needs to last! If it does OK tomorrow then I am taking it on a 500 mile trip Thursday. Then I will put the belt on it and get some gtech times. I bought some new tires for this season-30x13.50-15 et streets, so maybe I can hook this year!

Good to hear you've got the beast going again,I'm still running last years engine setup for a couple of more weeks while my shortblock is being built.I hope I'll have my new combo dialed in by the end of March.

You said it there, "dialed in" I did the stuff Parish has been talking about lately just to get it to idle. It seems to have some surging going on, don't know much yet, haven't driven it very far. I am gonna get a dyno tune as soon as it is broken in and I guess I will break down and buy a wideband.

Sweet dood ... good luck with the trip to work ..

I'm having the surging problem too, I think I messed up by drilling my electronic TB blade today. It's doing some funny stuff.

Flyer-Hey man, don't say that! I got the electronic TB too and I drilled it last nite just so the thing would idle. I was reluctant to do it, but once it warmed up it wouldnt idle so I got out the old drill and poked a 1/8" hole. We'll see how it does today I guess.

I did a 1/16 hole in there, and it wants to idle up around 1500 when it moving. I guess that would be part of the throttle cracker thing????
