Default My truck is now Whipplecharged!

I just got my truck back and all I can say is WOW. The difference in power is incredible. At cruisin speeds, you do not even notice it is there. But once you get on it, it sounds like a F-16. Whipple also sent the spark plugs that they use, don't know what kind, their thermostat, and I bought some Taylor wires. I have not been able to hit it from the line yet, because of traffic, but from 40, I am going 90 before I even know it. I am going to do some G-tech runs tonight to see the difference, and I might race my friend with a 99 GT auto. He has exhaust, pulleys, and 3.73's and runs mid to low 14's. I am also going to get some hamms later.

Nice!

Did you upgrade your fuel pump?

Did come with tuning?

Does it sound like a lightning?

Congrats. Is the Whipple really all it is supposed to be?

Post your G-tech #s this evening. Do you have G-tech #s before the charger? I really want to know the gains. Get it on a Dyno soon.

Sounds cool. What motor 5.3 or 4.8. You say under normal driving its not loud? Ive got a 6.0 liter Denali I want to super charge also. But I was thinking about a magnacharger, what led you to a whipple? Did you research both? Let me know I'm just down the street from you in LaHabra.

I have not had a chance to G-tech it, it probably won't be till tommorrow. I did have a couple races allready though. I was taking my friend for a ride when a guy I know rolls up in a 2002 Z28. We got to the stop sign and I was so excited, I puched it to the floor off the line. That was a mistake, by the time let off, and got on it, there was no chance. Maybe next time.

As for the 99 GT I was telling you about, We did race, and this time there was no messing up. We dicided to race from 40mph to about 90mph. We did this because his tires are completely bald and I need to get the hang of all this new power. We both hit it and we were dead even to about 70, and then I pulled about a 1/4 of a car leanght to about 90, I am pumped. That last time we did that, before I was supercharged, he beat me by about 5 car lengths.

I am not completely sure about the fuel pump, but I think it is still the stock one. As for the computer, Whipple has a piggy back computer that does everything for you. My truck is a 5.3L by the way.

I did look into magna charger, but I knew a couple people with a Whipple and had good results with them. The idea of having full boost at any rpm also leaned me toward Whipple.

Still no G-tech yet. I worked for my dad this morning, which meant I had to drive to Las Vegas from Orange County, Drop off a electric motor and come back, and then go to LA. I was pretty much driving for 12 hours, so when I got home I was in no mood to do anything. I like the thing more and more everytime I drive it. The power is great, and part time throttle is greatly improved. I do want to change my exhaust on my truck though. I have a Gibson muffler, cut right after the muffler and it is way too loud. It sounds good at WOT, but cruisin speeds is giving me a headache. Do you guys have any suggestions? I want something that has a clean sound, loud at WOT, but quiets down when off the throttle. I have to have it exit before the rear tire because of my air bag setup. I was thinking about getting PV muffler with the venturi, has anybody had any experiece with this? Thanks

I don't know from personal experience, but I've heard that the PV is louder than Gibson and Flow 40 series.
