I was going to suggest that GM customer service line too. When I ordered my old truck, they seemed to always have been able to find out where it was in production as oppose to the dealer.

You might also go talk to the manager at the dealership and tell hiim you are interested in trading for something that isn't in the shop on a monthly basis. Be up front with him and let him know in a subtle, but curteous way that you expect him to take some liability for the truck since he sold it to you. If you don't like your results after that, then I would start working on the customer service line and see what they can do for you.

Bought my truck new in January '02, and have put 42,000 hard miles on it since then. That's towing, racing, and farm work.

Not one single problem.

Well now that you started it lemme add to what was wrong with mine:

1. Very poor 4-2, 3-2 kick downs. Trans shifted very poorly from factory. TransGo fixed that ****.
2. ABS mod died. Great, another $300 to shell out.
3. Both window regulators. Rolled one down and went about 1" then BAM right to the bottom.
4. Seat frame BROKE. Yes you hit brakes you slide forward. You hit gas you go back in seat! $450 to fix that.
5. Rear U-joint wasn't setup/lubed correctly from factory.
6. BAD trans slip yolk
7. Front diff sounded nasty, Auto 4WD still binded up.
8. Rattle's everywhere. Rear windows didn't seal well.

That's all I can remember and hopefully all I can recall.

Wow I guess I've been lucky. I bought my truck with around 53,000 and haven't had a serious problem yet. I found out waruntee work before I bought it, which was the powersteering pump, and the steering shaft (both replaced), along with the gauge cluster lense being replaaced, and the rear leafs. I was told the guy was a squeek freak. I did have to replace the battery, kinda stranded me once after the positive terminal started leakin really bad.

I hope to never have to take it to a dealership
