My 2000 hasn't been in the shop once. Well, except for when the motor blew a piston. But I don't know how that happened.

That seems like a lot. Only thing I've had my new one in for is to replace the jack. Once I used it, I couldn't get it back down without standing on the jack and using as much force to pull it down as I did to jack up the truck.

My Z71, hda a few things that weren't self inflicted. The biggest one was the power steering. Sometimes it was like when you were stopped the power steering pump wasn't working, if you were ever so slightly rolling it was ok. It didn't make any difference if I reved the engine or not. They replaced the rack and pinion, something else, and the pump itself. I traded the truck off with this problem still going on. The back windows did have to be replaced for wind noise. The transfer case also had to be rebuilt. I had to have an altenator put on too, but I think I ruined the bearings when I put a belt on that was to short, and it put to much stress on the altenator shaft and messed it up. Everything else was self inflicted.

I would definantly check the lemon laws in your state, they vary from state to state.

Both of my trucks have been made at Fort Wayne, Indiana too if that means anything to ya.

The only problems I've had with my 99 aside from the TSB's are:

1. Rebuild the tranny because the pc solenoid took a crap. It didn't bother me much though because it gave me an oppurtunity to rebuild it.
2. AC compressor belt tensioner.
3. Replaced the rear slider 3 times because the brand they used the first two times was junk and kept cracking. No problems at all with this 3rd one.
4. ABS module. Replaced for free by my dealer.

That's about it and not including stuff I've done that required replacement parts.

One problem that I have had with my 99 sierra is the ABS pump going out aroung 38K. Don't think I'm ever going to replace it so long as I can still stop (knock on wood), also because that stupid little thing costs around $800 alone!!!!
Yeah new they are really pricy...all you need is the electronic module on top. I got mine from A&A Pick up and Van parts in Kennedale, Texas for ~$225 when I had a 1999...

Finanly I get to vent about my POS 99 Z-71 (Piece of Sh*t)

65,000 miles A/C blew up when I waiting for my appointment to have the transmission looked at. They couldn't find anything wrong with the transmission but it clunks, shifts hard, and delays engaging when you mash the throttle (f'ing annoying ).

Oh yeah...window regulator replaced twice, fog lamps are junk, front diff took a crap, alot of wind noise inside the cab (rear windows), and the darn steering column made a clunk that apparently wasn't covered under warranty because it was considered a "lube" type fix. What a joke.

I knew I should have kept that 1986 Diesel Ford 1-Ton I had, it was a pain to drive around in town but at least it was predictable on failures.

Two thumbs down on 99-02 Chevy Trucks!

not every rig is junk. doesnt matter who makes anything. some times youll get a POS and sometimes
you dont. IMO my truck is the best non maintenance vehicle i have owned. and your truck was the first
year of the new model. you should of waited any time a new model arrives those first few years have
problems.

My truck was built in Indiana also. I found a sticker in the glove box that said production date and when I got the calender out it was a MONDAY!!!!!!!

On a good note the ride is very solid and very quiet. The actuall engine seems to be smooth and quiet. I hope after this the bugs will finally be gone and I can start to enjoy this dam truck!

I looked up Colorado lemon laws and they are useless! It says the problem has to cause the car or truck to be unsafe and close to non-driveable. The dealer gets so many "reasonable" trys to fix the problem the problem also.

I always said I rather push a Chevy then drive a Ford but now that I'm on this side of the fence that dosn't sound so good any more! My buddy has a 2001 F150 4.6 and it has never been in the shop once in almost 30,000 miles! I grew up a Chevy guy as I have family that worked for GM for 30 years and we always bought Chevys but this truck will make me think twice next time and in a way that is sad. For $30,000 I should have got a top quality truck and nothing less.

Lemons, no matter what name you slap on them, they're still yellow.

I have had my '02 for over 2 years now and the only warranty issue has been the driver side seat cover. The cloth started coming apart and they had to put on a new cover. Other than that all else done to my truck has been in the name of performance! It has no squeaks, rattles, wind noise or any of those type nick nack probs. Seems to be one of the best quality vehicles I have owned (and I have had about 40)

in my opinion i believe you have a lemon. if you can't get a new vehicle i say you call GM customer service and just make a complaint and be persistent about it. this is because i had a friend that used to work there and she said they would on occasion give the customer a free extended five year warranty in cases like these where the customer wasn't happy. i have had my truck for 23 months now and i have had no problems whatso ever even with all the mods i have. hope this helps
