Unhappy My Motor Broke !!

Well looks like i'm outta the fastest truck hunt for now ..

Drving my truck to work yesterday heard a nastly rattling noise and then Kaboooommm Followed by a HUGE *** cloud of smooke behind the truck

Truck shut down and coasted to a stop on the shoulder

Towed it to the shop and tried cranking it ever not a chance
nothing would turn

So I tore into tried yanking out the driver side front plug
It was jammed in there seemed to turn but didn't want to go more than half turn

pulled the turbo kit off ..tried to spin the impellor and there was metal inside it

Drained the oil.... I mean oil coolant mix out
pulled the valve covers to look for damage found some bent pushrods and a broken spring on one side
So the motor is pretty much done

It's gettin pulled today and were going to tear it down to see the extent of the damage and why it happend ..

So it's back to the drawing board to rebuild the Motor and my turbo

Damn, sorry to hear that man. Sounds like a valve spring might have let go and wreaked havoc.

408 time?

headgasket wouldnt cause that at low rpm. Dunno what would cause it under just normal driving conditions though. Good luck with it and let us know what the cause was for sure

So the turbo is shot? Was the metal in the compressor or hot side?

God that sucks.... That's as bad as Jim's 6.0L incident. You didn't even do anything fun to cause it to go.

I just don't see what could have let go at normal operating range unless the part was already hashed and just couldn't hang in there anymore.

Sorry to hear about the bad news!
I am very curious to see what happened..
Valve spring breaking can explain almost everything but coolant in the oil, unless it broke your head so bad that it effected a coolant passage..

What compression ratio are you running?

Blown headgasket and hydro locking cant explain the valve spring..

Broken piston explains all but the coolant unless it cracked the block..

Was the Kaaboom a backfire or a mechanical sound?

Sorry again about the bad news!!
