I'll know better when we take the heads off
My heads are ported and i was at 9:1 compression
I think that the valve may have caused all the damage
I can't get the plug out of the cylinder with the broken spring
must be mangled good i bet

The exahust wheel is totally pooched pieces missing on the blades and i found metal in the housing

408 Sounds Nice .... gotta see if i can afford another big engine build ...

Sorry to hear about it Jim, just make sure there is not a beer can sized hole in the block. (Sorry Red, that description is classic)

Man there seem to be so many guys that are going through "built" motors... it makes me wonder it its safer to stick with stock short blocks that can be had for 1/5 or less of the cost.

Sounds like a complete write off on the motor and turbo. The smartest thing to do would be to put in a good used motor sell the truck and find a new toy.You know a new SSR 6spd with a turbo would be way cool.

I love this truck too much and have a few things to prove to myself and few people
i have too many Hours into this truck to simply walk away from it
The thought crossed my mind ..Nice Grand national or maybe a vette
I'm gonna get her going again

On turbo the kit should be for sale as soon as i can get it recoated to look all nice and of course turbo rebuilt

I'm really sorry to hear about that. Its always nice to upgrade the motor, but you already had plenty of money in that setup. It should have lasted a long time. I'm also interested ot see what caused the damage.

Get those heads off and pull that bitch before you start talking crazy even though it sounds gloomy ! Yeah the turbo may be shot but the motor may if held up! it was a built iron block right?

usualy you can get the turbo rebuild kits for $300, and another $150 or so for the labor and ballancing. No big deal there. I'm guessing that head with the broke spring is gone though. Hopefully the rest of the rotating assembly is still good. Blocks are a dime a dozen, its the crank and rods that are soo much.
