I have been in contact with B&B lately, and was thinking about going with their street rod mufflers. Well, two would cost me a little over $400. I really can't justify that, so I've decided to go dual magnaflow. I've already got the Thorley headers. My question is what size should I go with the exhaust system? I'll be running a 6.0 with a cam and head work. Should I go with a 3" system, or stay with the 2.5? Also, I see that the 4x9x14 magnaflows are probably the loudest. Since I'm going to run no cats, should I go to 2 4x9x18s? I'm also going to be adding two cutouts in front of the mufflers. Last question, x-pipe or no x-pipe. Thanks again as always guys.

gimme a few days and ill post up some clips of my new magnaflows with x pipe
Ill be running my cats though and 2.5"
thunder racing had everything I needed and got it here in 2 days
hell jegs didnt even have the mufflers in stock and summit dont carry magnaflow
I decided on magnaflow because theve proven themselves time after time on this board and sound good too that and i was getting tired of looking
but those b&b would be badass

That is another one I am considering. Anybody have a clip of the Borla XRs? Damn B&B street rod mufflers don't even come with the inlets or outlets. Now call me stupid, but I just don't think just two mufflers without inlets/outlets are worth over $400. Please

I have 2 4"x9"x14" Magnaflows on my true duals with and x-pipe and no cats. They're 2.5", but if i was going with a 6.0L, I'd run dual 3" exhausts. Everything I've read on exhaust recommends going with an x-pipe (or at least an h-pipe).
I really like the sound of these. It's not too loud under normal driving conditions, but really screams on WOT runs.

You could also use a single magnaflow dual in/out muffler with true x core, 2.5 "
# 14568 in 22" body or 14468 in 18" body. I'm sure it would be less expensive and a
much better/easier fit.

It took me almost a year to decide on mufflers for my truck. I wanted quiet but huge and freely-flowing, a difficult combination. I decided on dual 3" in/out 5x11x22" Magnaflows after hearing of guys removing them for being too quiet.
I am running the dual 3" Magnaflows with dual 3" OBD-II 43000-series cats and a 2.5" balance pipe. At idle and cruising it's exactly as quiet as I wanted it. Wide open it commands attention and is a little raspy, very deep. I'm happy.
Backpressure is practically non-existent and perfect for a forced-induction engine. Be careful sizing these things for a naturally-aspirated motor, don't go overboard on size. They have very little backpressure and these engines need some at low RPM.

Stick with the 2.5" pipes up front from the muffler. Remove the stock Y, and install an X at that spot. Then move the pipe up in diameter to 3" and run two 3" mufflers. That will give you high exhaust velocity through the X which will really help the scavaging effect, then the rest of the 3" stuff will be plenty open.
For reference, I think its VINCE with the 408 stroker on his car. He made over 500 rwhp with dual 3" front pipes that merge into a 3.5" Ypipe. Your dual 2.5" front pipes will flow almost the volume of his single 3.5" Y-pipe, but he has 45 more cubic inches and a big cam.
No need for cutouts with the straight through mufflers unless you want it to be loud. Or, you could go with bigger magnaflows to keep the noise down, and run cutouts when you want to be loud. I personally prefer the stealthy approach.

Well Richard, you haven't let me down yet, so I think I'm going this route. Unlike you though, I throw the stealth mode out the window, so I'm going to go with the smaller magnaflows and the cutouts.
