Default LT's and factory ypipe

Just got my pacesetters today. I have a 3" magnaflow catback. Will the headers match up to my exhaust now? I want to change it to a true dual and no cats. I wont be able to do that for a nother couple weeks as far as time and material goes. Can I slap these puppys in right now? Would be nice to see the power increase from stock to headers to true dual.

As far as pipe size goes when i do the dual..3" is too large for a 4.8 from what I read? I will be putting a 5.3 in this winter with new intake and a cam. What size should I be going with? 2.5"?

thanks for the help

Did you get a Y pipe with the LT's? If not, it won't work. The LTs will not bolt up to the factory Y pipe(2.75" I think), without heavy modding. Its easier to just get the Y pipe (3").

As for the True duals, 2.5 at the most. for the 4.8, even 2.25 wouldn't be bad. The 2.25s will feel better down low, but choke you a little bit up top, and the 2.5s will act the exact opposite.

Why go from single 3" to dual 2.5"? I'd stay 3" and have some cut outs welded on each bank of the y-pipe, if you want to be loud!!!

Ok, so just wait till Im ready to do it all. Is there any true performance increase with a true dual over a single 3"?

I have no emission testing where I am so the cat's are going. I really like the sound from the magnaflow now, I know its going to be louder with no cats and LT's but is it going to be a LOT louder.

Was reading on another thread that there will be a richer smell of gas coming from the exhaust with no cats, and a tune will fix it. How much will it take out?

Also with no cats, will it still run with no sensors? Or should I just plug them into the exhaust. Buddy has an HP tuner but he's a few hours away now.

Some good info here from BlackGMC:

I got this from Magnaflows Website.....

Since your at ~350 Cid, would use 2 1/2

To reduce additional backpressure, the OEM exhaust tubing can be replaced with mandrel-bent tubing of the same size or one size up from the OEM. As a general rule, you can enlarge the pipe diameter of your OEM exhaust system by 1/4 to 1/2-inch to increase your horsepower. However, any additional increase in pipe diameter is likely to decrease your performance; specifically, low end torque.

I recently got the Pacesetter LT's with the ORY and had the exhaust shop (Arkansas Performance Exhaust...plug) run 3" all the way back with an 18" Magnaflow dumped and it sounds mean! I am however going to put some Magnaflow High Flow cats on in the near future simply for the exhaust fumes.
