Default LSXRT Vs Carb???

There are a couple of guys here in town running 5.3's and 6.0's with carburetors.. The guy building those engines keep saying that he adds at least 50hp with that Vic jr intake and those Demon 950 carburetors..
My question is what would be the way to go?? Forget about PCM's and get a carburetor or go ahead and buy a LSXRT intake with a 90mm tb??
Thanks guys!!

I would never see myself ditching efi for carb. But that is just me. If it were me I would go F.A.S.T. and not look back.

It depends on what you build the rest of the motor for...you can build a motor to make good horsepower using the carb or you can build a motor to make good power with the fuel injection, or you can mix and match the pieces to make ok power

whats he makin 50hp over? stock? of course he is, prolly at the same time he's adding a cam and other stuff as well

Are you talking about building a motor or bolting this intake and carb on a stock 5.3 or 6.0?

On what though? What kind of vehicle is this? Does it need to get good gas mileage? Drive across country? Track queen? Street racer? Budget? Preference? All kinds of things come in to play when trying to decide between the two

If I was building a motor from scratch and didn't have any kind of fuel setup to begin with, and it was just a weekend toy, I'd have a vic jr with a quickfuel 950 e85 carb setup

After owning both carbureted vehicles for years and now my EFI truck for the past 11 years, I'll never go back to a carburetor, no matter what I build. You can tune so much more precisely with EFI, and with the new intakes available, should be able to build to support almost any power level. I'd go for the FAST LSXRT with 102mm throttle body if it were me

I haven't met anyone who liked their carb ls setup, especially on a vehicle that sees any kind of street duty. Timing tuning and fuel tuning is so so much more precise with efi. The magazine guys are the only people i've ever seen really like carbed ls setups. That is just the easy way out i think. I have alot of older friends that still run sbc's and bbc's because they are intimidated by efi. I'll never stray from efi, no matter how much it cost. It's worth it.
