I will be getting tuned in the next few weeks. I will be running a stock stall, which seems to be doing fine with all the torque of the 383. Almost zero traction, especially from a dead stop and after 3800rpms through first gear from a roll. I would really like to run a vic jr., but not enough info on them as far as low-end. Like from idle to 2500rpms.

What intakes are compatible with the stock truck fuel rails and injectors? That is one of my biggest concerns. I don't want to change these. I know on the LS6 intake the tips of the injectors have to be taken off and bracket/spacers need to be made for the fuel rails.

What I would love to see is a COMPLETE list of every single modification that needs to be done when swapping the LS6, LS2 SSR and Vic Jr. intakes. That way people like me and some others don't run into suprises when doing the swap on our day off. Like,"Oh, I didn't know I needed a bracket/spacer for that." Then post it on here and people be like,"well just cut a peice of metal metal 1/8" thick, tap it, bend it, etc." I don't have access to crap like that and it would take me a descent amount of time to find somebody that could do that and some cash to have stuff like that done. That's why we need a complete lists of modifications for each intake. That way, people that want to do these swaps don't run into snags and know ahead of time what to expect. Does everybody think that's a good idea? Not trying to bitch or anything. But sometimes it's like trying to get blood from a turnip when trying to get info on these types of things.

Not too long ago Kano had an excellent thread about how to swap the LS6 intake and what was needed. He was also very helpful with my questions that I had on the subject. We need some more threads like that on these new intakes.

I'm kinda leaning towards the LS2 SSR intake, because the LS2 SSR looks to clear the truck accessories. Therefore eliminating the need for a idler bracket, cutting the alternator bracket and buying a new water pump as in the case of the LS6 intake. BUT, in Thunder550's thread it needs a bracket for the older 99-02 throttle body wires. That would be cheaper than the other stuff listed above. I think everything else hooks up except for the EVAP canister. Anybody want to clarify?

To mount the SSR manifold:

1st, if you are using the stock truck fuel rails, you need taller injectors. My acceleronics injectors put the rail up just high enough that the crossover can clear the manifold. I'm not sure what you could do with stock injectors.

If you use stock truck rails, you'll have to cut off the mounting tabs and make your own mounts. I used some strips of aluminum on mine. Pics below.

You will have to make a throttle cable bracket, since the SSR's are all ETC. Also, the evap solenoid will have to be ghetto-rigged. I have some pics of mine below as well. The stock evap line will rotate and you can kind of leave the solenoid hanging, and just run a new line from the evap outlet to the manifold inlet. I think that's about it.

Thanks for the info! What did you use for the evap solenoid extension? It looks like the map sensor wiring needed modding? Do you know how much taller the injectors need to be?

I'm not sure how much taller the injectors are, if I get a chance I'll try to take a pic of the stock ones next to mine. For the PCV I used some trans fluid line (I have a different one than is in the pic now) to attach to the PCV outlet, then used a reducer into some smaller line to attach to the manifold nipple. I did have to extend the MAP sensor lines about 4". I'll also have to find some way to hold it on there, cause the sensor I have doesn't have clips on the side. It's find right now since I'm not boosted, but I'll have to make a small bracket to keep the sensor from popping out.

the only reason i asked is because you cant use just any LSx intake on the L92 heads( as i have read many places) so i didnt know if you could use the L92 intake on any LSx heads

The LS2 truck manifold looks like the easiest installation choice and it appears to flow much better than the old style truck intake. It has more plenum volume, bigger openings and it does pretty well on the LS2. No other LS1 or LS2 intake works on L92 heads and the L92 intake only works on the L92 and L76 truck heads. It will NOT work on LS1, LS2 or LS7 heads, but it sure does look like it has high flow capabilities. The new L92 and L76 motors that use these should really respond to tuning a "cam only" change. No need to upgrade heads and intake for most of us.
