You don't even have a 6.0 and your HP level is a lot lower. You're not even close to comparing apples to apples there. THe truck intake might be fine for the smaller motor guys. But on a 6.0 with heads... not gonna be the same curve. The peak will be MUCH lower!

I dont think the big thing is it quits pulling at that rpm its the fact that it leaves alot of power left on the table after 5500 that graph looks funny the torque curve just dies after 5500. I think the ls6 intake would be a great candidate for that cam.

Kevin,

I'll host dynos from BlueCajun, Scream, 02Reaper, BigKid, JoshLuther, and Kano that all show less than a 5900RPM peak with the truck intake manifold.
The same setup w/ a LS6 intake will do 6200-6400rpm peaks all day.
Anyways, post up your 'new' dyno. It shows the exact same results as these guys have seen.

Awesome gain man, well worth it IMO. It's amazing what you can do when you match the parts together properly. Like tdrumm mentioned, hopefully when folks ask about upgrading intakes, the old "the truck intake is good enough" answer will be put to rest...especially for guys runnin big cams and worked heads.

Looks good too

Ive got an LS2 manifold in the garage. Maybe I should look at swapping that on with my 6.0??? Would I need a new TB?? Do you think it would be worth it on a turbo application??

theres alot of things to think about here
cam, heads ,Cubic inches etc

I got laughed at pretty hard when I said I think Ive maxxed the truck intake out.
Then heard all these assumed truck intake theories
Even tried asking more detailed questions over at tech on plenum volume
runner length etc only to get nowhere

like others just said,
After viewing all these graphs from others with the truck intake it looks like the point where airflow becomes disturbed is 340RWHP and 5000 RPM
just an observation but...
After looking a Mattrems graph I was convinced
We run very similar setups only difference being a 216/220 vs 228/230
We both peaked at about the same rpm and Hp
approx 5000 and 350

both of these cams should pull higher than 5000

dont get me wrong
I wouldnt do this swap on a bolt on 5.3
But as you add more and start making more, the more necessary this swap will be
airflow demands increase as HP increases
no matter what
and if the intake is a restriction then you wont get the most potential out of your other mods

Sport Side,
those intake threads are great
Ive read quite a few during all this

James,
thanks for posting that up
How did that vid against the vette turn out?

Yelo,
It would be nice to see a comparison between the trk,ls1and ls6
on the trucks, due to the cost and all

honestly Id rather try a fast 90 and keep it when Im done

I may be able to try it though
I still got a few things left on the backburner with sport side
that Im doing next
so it may be a little while.
Ill hit you up later

in the meantime keep an eye out on Richard
I think hes got some good info/ comparisons coming soon

I'd like to touch on this because I have a feeling this is 'where it will
head' after this thread is over and done with. In all of the upcoming
intake threads, I have a feeling the rule of thumb is don't do this mod
on a 4.8L or 5.3L.

I think this is dead nuts wrong. 3/4ths of the dynos I have listed are
5.3L - cam only setups. This 5900 max out (or w/e the max is, I'm not
definite quite yet) is common between all of these setups.

I'll wait to Kano dynos before making any bets but, it is interesting how
he could only launch off idle now. It is very possible his hole tq/hp
curves have been reshaped. We'll see.

Well put Sportside, and my thoughts exactly. I'd love to see one of the 5.3 guys you mentioned try this too.
