LS6 cam in an LQ9
#3
I just say if your going to do it, you wont be happy and wish you went bigger. If your paying someone to do it, go with a bigger cam also. No reason to do it twice. If you trying to stay on the smaller side of cam go with a old man cam or something that is under 220 in duration. this should give you a nice bump and really be torquey.

Z06 cams are cheap as are the springs; thats the only reason. I'm just wondering what kind of gains Id get.
also, I have really tall gears with 33's and 3.73s so I'm crusing 70mph at 1850rpm
I want to avoid downshifting and unlocking the converter.
Really, in a perfect world Id have the stock powerband "lifted up"
As long as I have MORE torque above 1500rpm, even if the powerband shifts up, Im ok. I'm not willing to sacrifice anything below 15-1600 though.

The Z06 cam is a great little boost over the stock cam, that's for sure. Especially from 3200 on up. It won't fall off above 5000 like a stock cam either. The only reason I swapped it out (to a Vinci Ultra Toquer), is my 4.8 didn't have much low end to begin with, all though I really didn't loose any with it, I didn't gain any either. With a LQ9, you shouldn't have that problem. If you need one, I still have mine, PM me. If I don't sell it soon, I'm going to keep it and put in this 6l I got sitting a crate and put that in some little light weight car and have some fun
