Default LS6 Cam in LQ4

Thought id go ahead and say that this has probably been asked before but wanted to make a new thread so i didnt have to revive an old one .

Anways, have a 2001 GMC Sierra SLE, LR4 4.8L Vortec. Bone stock engine with 114,000 miles, have flowmaster exhaust and K&N air filter. Have developed a bad lifter knock, since im going to be tearing it apart, might as well upgrade some stuff.

Current Parts list:
LS7 Lifters $115
LS6 Cam, Which is best for just a mild build and mild price, with the other parts ill be installing? Web site is appreciated or part number
Comp Cams Hardened Push Rods 7.400 $130
LS6 Yellow Valve Springs $65
Gasket Set. $50
Tune
Headbolts, havent priced any yet, whats good?

My budget is right under $1000 and would like some left. Questions so far, is what specific tools will i need for this project and is there anything else i need to get other than oil etc. Also is there a build thread or how to over this allready so i can get some good pointers?

I'd look for a used cam in the classifieds before running that.

You can find Trickflow 7.4 hardened pushrods for about $86 at various online retailers, you can also find some hardened pushrods on ebay atm for $84 shipped. On ebay search for "ls1 pushrods" and you will see the one for $84 I am talking about. You are welcome I just saved you some cash vs the comp pushrods.

Buy me a sammich and we will call it even. LOL j/k.

yes, id look for something like the 212/218 or similar specs. the ls6 cam is ok if your given it for free but there are better cams to be had. what head gaskets are you planning on using?

LS7 lifters are taller than stock, so you may need shorter pushrods. I did.
