Ok so here's what I'm looking at. This setup has the 5.3 heads that blackGMC was telling me about with a 220/220 .581/581 114lsa cam a 3000 stall and 4:10 gears. I figure if I'm going to do it then go for it screw 3:73s or 3:90s

Do you want any chop? If so go 112lsa. Also put some LTs, a 4" cai an that'd be a strong 4.8

Yeah, go for the 4.10s and a 3000 rpm or higher stall. Trust me, you will like the 4.10s, I think I'm turning like maybe 2400 rpm at 75 mph with my 4.10s. Also you can pick up a Circle D 3200 rpm stall for pretty cheap and they are very good. Then later on if you decide to boost it you will need a stronger converter anyway and you can go for one with a lower stall speed.
Also, is your truck reg cab, ext cab, or crew cab? what size wheels and tires? If it's a crew cab you need the 4.10s, these trucks are heavy.

4.8 only comes with the 4spd which is stupid on GM's part. It'd give the 4.8 some ***** behind it with that short 1st gear

It should have the 6-speed as standard AND the option for 4.10s. All GM's trucks should by now.
