I am assuming that you are putting this in your 2001 truck?

Some might hate me for this but I know there are many who share this opinion.

I personally like the 6.0s as they have more torque for moving these heavier trucks around. The 6.0 will also be a much easier swap in terms of accessories and stuff like that. this engine while it does weigh more has more potential for buildups later which is what most people find they do at some point. The engine is also cheaper.

An LS1 while it might have more cool factor was build to push a lighter more arrowdynamic car around and will have to work harder to get you moving than will the 6.0. you will be maxing out that engine more often and this is important if you ever plan on towing anything.

Besides if you want your 6.0 to drive more like an lS1 in the higher revs you can always swap an LS6 intake onto it but you will loose some torque particularly in the lower end. Given that you are already planning on a cam, you can fix some of that anyway.

I you are also going to need to get whatever engine you go with re tuned for the cam also and tuning can go along way with the 6.0.

Just my thoughts

no replacement for displacement lol

w/e you get a good deal on get it, most of the time your gonna pay for an LS1, only reason i got one over the 6.0 is cause of mine being built good and the price

+1 for the truck manifold no matter what you get, i think they flow better

ya it will be going in the 01 rcsb silverado, i have the pacesetters and already figured on the retune

why the truck intake over the ls1 intake

whats the horsepower and torque differences between the 2

i do tow with it at most 3 or 4 quads, or 2 commercial 500 lb lawnmowers so never over 1500lbs

That extra .100" of bore makes a considerable amount of difference. I'd agree with going to a 6.0 over an LS1. The weight savings is nil in something so heavy, and generally the 6.0 is easier to find.

The truck intake flows more CFM than the LS1 intake, but less than the LS6 intake.

I have a 6.0 in my Avalanche with LS2 heads (gives you 10.1 CR) and a 222/224 cams along with some Pacesetter long tubes w y-pipe. Love it, but I'm selling it. AFTER I bring it to the track on Tuesday.

You can also get a 5.3 block, bore it out to the specs of the LS1 (3.9xx" bore) and have an iron block 5.7. Just a thought for you.
