if your gonna stroke it why not go 6l block? how much are you spending for the engine and trans? you might be paying allot more than you need since you already have a trans that will bolt right up.

I put a LS1 block in my truck a few years back. I used my stock tranny, inbtake, heads, injectors, pcm, and all the accessories. The only thing thaty changed was the block. Its a "plug and play" (hehe) engine swap as a 6.0 would be. Im at the point now though that the truck intake, heads, and injectors gotta go. They are holding me back big time since I put a fairly big cam in. When I had the 212/218 which was on the small side for a LS1 everyhting was fine. Basiclly Im saying depending on your long term plans(and really think about it becuase all of us, ok alot of us say their gonna stop here and dont) the truck heads and intake will be ok.

Now as far as price. It depends on how good of a deal your getting. A brand new LS1 block is more expensive than a brand new 6.0l block. So research that before you buy. I got a pretty good deal on mine. It had like 12k on it with a 228/228 cam in it and I got it for 800 from the shop I was using at the time. Do I have any regrets? Hell no it been great.

You stated earlier that it was a "complete motor" and I assume that means with all accessories like water pump, alternator, (all belt accessories). If this is true then you can install it straight up and not have to use anything from your truck motor. Then you just need to get a tune to make it run smooth.

Would there be an advantage to go ls1 over 6.0?

you will have to swap your fuel rails I believe because I think your on a returnless fuel system and LS1's are not unless its out of a 97-98 vette...i may be wrong on this so dont quote me...someone please correct me if im wrong

As far as the ls1 being swapped in the place of any of the LSX based truck motors it should be plug and play. Use all of the truck stuff (intake, manafolds, fuel rails, coil packs)

You do not have to change anything. just run the truck setup.

a friend of mine put an stock ls1 into his truck and gets way better milage and it runs pretty well. Stock for stock the ls1 and 6.0 are very close motors. I (meaning my opinion) would be to take the ls1 at the cheaper price and go from there.

First i would find out if it is an LS1 intake or LS6 intake. The ls1 intake pretty much flows the same as the truck intake. The ls6 is the much better one for OEM. I have seen alot of write ups on this on the internet and in magazines comparing the three OEM intakes.
