Default LQ9 with LS1 heads how would it work?

Just like the tittle says! How would LS1 heads work on an LQ9? Im asking that because i can get the LS1 heads cheap and if i do get the LS1 heads they are already ported and polished?

Hell I would go with it you would be raising your compression a bit probley close to 11, but I am just estimating. I would really for it. You have a RC and if you dont tow that much I think it would be great.

The LQ9 heads are based on the LS6 design - you wouldn't find me trading them for LS1 heads (ported or not). - but that's just me.

I think it would be better just to port and polish the heads on the LQ9.

The reason im saying that how would LS1 heads will work on an LQ9 is because i dont have the 6.0 heads i bought the 6.0 but the heads were missing. Thats why im asking that how would the ls1/ ls6 heads work on my LQ9!

That sucks.

I would say, they would work just fine.

They worked fine on my 5.3L. I did 345rwhp N/A with a jacked up stall converter. Of course my heads are welded up and milled so it bumped my CR from 10:1 to 10.8:1

I think that the compression would bump up quite a bit, but with good fuel, the right amount of timing, and keeping the temps down, they should work. If you check around, you can find some clean 317 casting heads for $300 or less though...there's usually a set or two on ebay.
