Default lq4 buildup opionins

My friend has a 03 2500 GMC with an lq4. Hes looking to get 500 hp at the wheels. Hes got $3500-$4000 to spend. Driveability isnt a major concern, hes more about making power. The motor currently has 150,000 miles on it. Is there anything we should take into consideration with that many miles?

I'm thinking l92 heads, fast 90 intake, a tsp ms3 cam package, some kinda stall converter, and maybe a 125 shot of nitrous.

I know the ms3 cam is more for top end, anyone put it into a truck?

Thoughts and opinions are appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know about those miles, but carcraft did an article HERE running L92 heads and a cam along with very few other mods that supposedly make 550HP. That's pretty much the approach I'm taking, but I'm trying to keep mine injected instead of running a carb.

I'd definately be going through the bottom end with that many miles and looking to make that kind of power. Don't think you're going to get there on that budget though. I just spent about $5000 making about 400 RWHP. Trust me, it adds up FAST!

I believe that was crank HP in that article. They spent nearly $5000 doing that.

That should easily get him over 500 at the wheels. Even more if he gets a better cam, custom spec'd for the heads/intake.

Truck is a reg cab, long bed, 2wd, right?

Yes, that's true, but look at their cost buildup. It includes the engine in the price which he already has. It also takes into consideration MSRP prices on a lot of those parts-for instance L92 heads don't cost $800 anymore. I have less than $2500 into my build including the engine. It can be done if you shop around even a little.

That's a heavy truck to be wanting 500hp out of a N/A 6.0.
