Default lq4/4l80 swap disappointed! Now what? Videos Inside

OLD SETUP:
2003 5.3/4l60e, 4.11's, tru trac, long tubes, comp 222/230 113+1, yank st3500

http://youtu.be/GfmoVDNNmo0

NEW SETUP:
2000 lq4/4l80, 4.11s, tru trac, long tubes, comp 222/230 113+1, 8.1 injectors

http://youtu.be/z0g28pjOKjs

I guess I was expecting more SOTP feel from this swap. This forum has always helped me spend what little money I had in the right place, hence the 80 swap before I grenaded my 60. I'm honestly kind of bored with the truck and need opinions on where to go from here and what mods will suit my goals. The truck currently needs a new exhaust and converter for the 80 swap. This is what I can come up with.

OPTION 1(origional plan):
Edge 3600 converter, slicks, and a 150 shot

OPTION 2:
Keep the truck as is and begin on a turbo setup. Something budget minded. Flipped manifold, ebay gt45 or on3, rock the stock stall for a while....you get the idea. A slow build.

OPTION 3:
Get a circle d budget 80 converter. 2600-3200 and go from there. Would this converter work for boost as well if I deceide option 1 isn't enough? here the converter. Circle D Specialties High Performance 278mm Torque Converter for GM 4L80 LS

Keep in mind I'm a broke S.O.B. but I am very crafty and meticulious about my work. Opinions and suggestions wanted. I know there is someone thats been in my position and I want to hear from them.

Just a good converter(not a cheap "budget" 'verter) would REALLY wake your truck up.

Then spray it if you're really feeling froggy.

Get a converter for the 80e. I actually ended up with my 4.88 gears and a 4k stall. Love it but now I'm seeking a big power cam to shift my power band upward. But you'll love it stalled and geared. If you can deal with the Rpms.

Sometimes I think about switching gears back to 3.73 and turboin the truck. But already got headers and exhaust. So it looks like my same combo camed and future centrifugal style supercharger. Not a big fan of nos. just my 2cents, as your about broke as me. Lol

Going from a 3500 stall to a stock stall will make your truck feel slower. Even with those extra cubes. I agree with the posters above. Bigger stall is needed.

Last two guys nailed it in my opinion, bigger stall should wake her up nicely if you are planning on spray.

I would do the converter and then re-assess and go from there, but definitely need to think about whether you going boost or spray before choosing the converter.

Personally...
I like option #2, but then again I always lean towards turbos.

I sold my turbo'd truck last year so I am in the process of having a L76 built into a forged 408 and then do twins on it.

Exactly my worries. If I decide to stay n/a or spray the converter can be a part that I won't be able to reuse if I decide I want boost later.

That's basically the whole point of my thread. I want to spend money right the first time and I'm at the point where I have to pick my power adder.

Spray it till you get the turbo stuff on..

I did 150 shot on mine with the stock 80E converter and it wakes it up a ton!
15.2@96 to a 13.1@109

then put the turbo on and did 12.9@113
and thats running on all terrains

Your truck was really a motivator for a stock converter with a turbo. That's basically why I have option 2. I saw you running good times with a stock converter. I could keep the money saved from the converter until later down the road, and put it towards building a turbo.
