LQ4 2500HD Towing Cam
#83
I went over board with my setup. The best cam that I have had is the 212/218 high lift with the stock 317 heads so far. I pull a heavy boat and 4 wheelers also.
Now I have a L92 heads/intake with a TSP Torquer V2 cam, 3K stall, LT headers, 3.73 gears, and 285/75/16" tires (33's) It gets better than stock fuel mileage, and it's still fun to drive, even when I'm pulling the boat. There's a few vids of it on youtube

love rolling through old threads. The time and knowledge that followed was awesome.
I still loved my 212/218 "lowlift". My '04 1500 2wd had a wonderful life full of N/A growth. Started stock swapped lq4/4l80e, found a bad lobe on stock cam and went with the 212/218. Made 338/358, stock 3.73s. Ended life (sold it as it aged) at 400/400 on a 3200 stall and 4.56s.
I currently have a 1500HD i plan to replicate my old build. Just a nice 212/218, 243 or 706 heads, stock 2700 stall, HD2 kit and I'm golden. Learned my lesson on going overboard lol.
