I certainly did not loose any low end torque with the small 212/218, just pulls better from of idle until 5800.

Agreed, I had the lowlift 212/218 and its a great towing cam. Power off idle to 5800. It was a great fit for my 2500.

I have the 212/218 low lift on a 5.3 and it pulls great, no loss of tq down low.

That cam should be a torque monster on a 6.0 as it should bring the power even lower. Hard to beat for a tow truck IMO

While it's possible that it may only give you 10hp at 2000rpm over stock, I'm sure by the time the engine hits 2800-3000 rpms the gains will be closer to 30hp maybe more so yes, a cam is worth it

low lift = less stress on springs, therefore less maintenance and less valvetrain noise. The plus for the high lift is a little more power.

How often would you have to change the valve springs on the "high-lift" version?

no different.

Ramp rates and spring height are the biggest killers for springs. Just make sure that what whatever cam you choose, that the springs have enough seat pressure for the cam.

I went over board with my setup. The best cam that I have had is the 212/218 high lift with the stock 317 heads so far. I pull a heavy boat and 4 wheelers also.

Now I have a L92 heads/intake with a TSP Torquer V2 cam, 3K stall, LT headers, 3.73 gears, and 285/75/16" tires (33's) It gets better than stock fuel mileage, and it's still fun to drive, even when I'm pulling the boat. There's a few vids of it on youtube

Still trying to decide. 210/218 versus 212/218. Pretty sure on the 114+4. Also not sure on the 520ish lift vs 550ish.

Else Im ready to rock n roll!
