Default LPP's installed now having some problems

I just installed my lpp long tubes and i took my truck for a quick run around the block. Everything was fine until after about 5 minutes.

I stopped at a stop sign and it started to idle really low, shake and felt like it was going to die. So i pulled over and turned it off. Waited about 3-4 minutes, started it back up and rushed home. Everything seemed fine until i went to pull into my driveway and it stalled. I turned it back on and everything seemed fine again. So far there is no check engine light. What could cause this?

The wires arent touching the headers but a few of the rubber boots are touching it slightly. Could that be causing it?

Its hard to say without any codes. Just slowly and methodically go over every step you took during disassembly / reassembly process. It sounds like you forgot one simple connector (IAT, etc...). I would also pull and reseat all the plug wires, from the plug end as well as the coil end.

Good luck.

Also doing what 03 said, pull a wire off the batt and let it sit for a while then hook it back up.. The will reset the comp then it will learn all over again and might things better.. You shouldn't have any probs from a simple header install..

I had the battery unhooked while i was doing the install so i dont think that would cause it. I will try again tho.

Also i unplugged that rear 02 sensors from the harness since there arent any holes for them in the y pipe. Could that be the problem as well?

Unhooking the battery could cause it, it may just need to re-learn the idle. There's a procedure for the idle re-learn, which I can't remember, but I've found that just driving it hard under various conditions usually allows the PCM to do an idle re-learn.

Is it alright if the rubber boot slightly touches the header? It idles fine when it first starts up. Just after driving for a few minutes it starts to run like ****.

Not yet. I just got home from work so I'm going to check the plugs and wires.

if the rubber boot is slightly touching the header, it is fine. they shouldn't melt or anything, and certainly won't be causing the problems you're having.

I agree with budhayes3 and the idle relearn. when I Had my battery out for a day the next 2-3 days it would only idle around 200-300 rpm and die in every parking lot I was in. Just drive it and it should fix itself in a few miles or so.
