Default Low budget N/A 6.0 build

Please give me your opinions on this super low budget 6.0 build.

6.0 shortblock
5.7 heads to raise compression
LS6 '02 cam and springs
Arp rod bolts
Custom PCM tune

Seems like this could easily be done for 1500 or less. Please give any opinions on what I could change to get the most bang for my buck. This is my daily driver. Thanks.

Not a bad setup. I would, however, stick with the stock 6.0l heads and mill them to increase compression. The 6.0l head is a much better head to start with, and by the time you open up the 5.7l chamber to match the 4.00" bore, the comb. chamber volume is going to be pushing 70cc on the LS1 head.

Thanks for the tip man! I remember you used to have a very similar set up and I wish I would have bought it. I didn't know the 5.7 heads needed modification to work. How much would you mill them? I would like to have a custom tune and I will always run 93 octane gas. Thanks for any more tips Jason.

What are you looking for as far as performance? I agree with sticking with the 6.0 heads but would personally go with a larger cam.

it ought to move you around nicely for now but you will want more eventually (especially using the LS6 cam)

You are thinking of Jason 98 TA, not me. lol

I would mill the 6.0l heads around .030" to get your compression around 10.5:1.

What kind of power would you make with the Z06 cam and a 125 shot of N20 on the 6.0L with all the supporting mods like headers, intake, exhaust, tune?

the z06 cam is great with nitrous/boost but i would also go with a big larger cam...like a 215/220 .560/.560 112 if you're gonna run nitrous, or something like a tr224 or a hammer cam for an NA 6.0
