Not sure on that cam choice....

918's are loud and annoying on a daily driver IMO.....

918s will work withthat cam they are about 150 or so. Get the vlave guide seals and the spring seats are part of the valve guide seals now and its cheap insurance and easy to do since you will have the heads right in front of you.

For some reason I think what happened will not happen again anytime soon.

What don't you like about it? The Ultra TQ has a nice sound as well. I heard sound slips of both. I just figured the Ultra TQ stops pulling at 5800 and the Trucker goes to 6200. Maybe those numbers are conservative. I just want to be able to pull all the way to 6K and have a exhaust note that makes people wonder, "Does he have a cam in that thing?" When I call Vinci I will ask about the Ultra TQ again and see if he thinks it will still pull past 5800.

Nobody likes the Z06 springs for $65?
The 918's are noisy?
Should I spend the $360 on the titanium springs?
(Plus $100 for the spring tool?)

What makes a valvetrain noisy is improper pushrod length after a cam install, more so than 918 springs. I've got 918's and you can't hear my valvetrain unless you open my hood and stick your ear up to it.

If you are only going to 6K RPM with a ~.550 lift then you'll be fine with '02+ LS6 springs. You could even push it to 6200-6300 if you wanted to, but the higher you go, the more you risk valve float. Less of an issue with the 918's because they have greater seat pressures (open and closed).

I think you're fine on the cam, any of the cams you put up in your poll would be good choices. Think of it this way - the stock cam goes up to 5800 RPM, and it's only 190/191, .45x/.45x, so any of your choices would get you to 6K or 6200. It really is a personal decision.

the noisy 918's has nothing to do with pushrod length.....They just cause an valvetrain noise that is a bit annoying to me, this may be ok for others. Kinda like loud exhaust....some like it some dont.

You are correct...there is seat pressure and open pressure, the 918 has more of both than the LS6 spring.

I won't argue with you that the 918 has more inherent noise than a stock or LS6 spring. However, many people swap cams and don't do anything about pushrod length, and end up with noise in the valvetrain, only some of which is attributable to the 918's. Many times improper pushrod length due to a change in cam base circle amplifies (or multiplies) the problem.

Just spent the last hour on the phone with Joe Vinci. After talking it all over I went with the ASP Kicker cam and thier titanium springs. He said these will work with stock pushrods and rockers. After I told him I would be shooting for 8#'s of boost on the LQ4 he said the ASP was they way to go. Should have a little chop to it and it pulls from 1900-6000. Also found out I will need a water pump gasket, Crank bolt, Valve seals, Timing cover gasket and seal.

Guess I need to go to the dealership or GMPartsDirect.com. Anybody got part numbers?

CAM SPEC:
DUR @ .050" 210*/218*
LIFT .551 / .551
OVERLAP 52*
LSA 112*
