Default L76 V Max

Iv been looking into these motors and they seem pretty awesome. How hard is it to find one to swap into my truck? new or used. I was thinking about camming and building up my 5.3 but this Vmax motor seems like it will get more power and I can still do all that on top of it. I have a 99 new body style 1500.

An L76 Will bolt in to your 99 how ever you will need alot of electrical work to make it work in your in your 99. Its basically an LS2 with active fuel management. Cost is all relative to milage and availability in your area. They were only available for 2 years in the US models.

The newer Gen4 engines use a 58 X crank trigger Vs the Gen3 24 X crank trigger. The knock sensors are different and the cam signal moved from the back of the cam to the front of the cam wheel. I am not sure you will get the active fuel management to work. You can convert the cam and crank signals with a box from lingenfelter and you can buy extension harness for the knock sensors.

Here is the box---> Lingenfelter TRG-002 58x-24x Crank Sensor Trigger Conversion Module - Lingenfelter Performance

For simplicity you would be better off grabbing an LQ4 or an LQ9. Good luck!
