Thanks for the input guys. Really appreciate it.

BTW, if my truck was built in late 99' could i have ended up with a 99' PCM? How could i tell?
Mine is a 00 that I bought late 99 so I think I had the shitty 99 tune

EFI is gonna cost you like 500 now that they have the new one out. But look if ya find one used they go for about 150-200

$500 for a monitoring program. My god, that thing better come with some realy cool stickers or something.

I may have to keep an eye out for a used one. There's no way i'm spending that much. Maybe after edit and some more things.

Is ATAP as expensive?

actually atap and efi live are two different programs. atap is an obdII hardware interface [cable and black box] it is also a logging program [software]. efi live is software that uses the atap hardware to interface with your pcm. there is a standard efi live [logging only] and a bidirectional [ reset codes, lockout gears, cylinder balance test, crank relearn, etc]. i've never used atap software so i can't comment on it. efi live is a nice program with a very in depth user guide. you can change alot of features and customize the dashboards and settings to suite your needs. i believe paul blackmore owns or runs the company, and is very helpful [ he is on this site, and answers questions regarding efi live]. i hav'nt had any problems with the software failing in any way. imo it is well worth the money, you actually get to see what your motor and pcm are doing. and with bidirectional controls you can see exactly what codes are set and reset them. if someone here uses atap and is happy with it chime in, but i don't have any regrets about getting efi live. e

do you mean the old head tech ? that does'nt work there anymore. or richard the new guy. the old guy was the one who told me to get efi live so he could see what was wrong with their junk electronics. then he left and took the program with him. which is ok because it works better without the electrocrap on it. anyway sorry i digress, that program looks alot like efilive, how much was it ? i could'nt get anything to come up when i pressed order. if it's the same price or close i'd probably still go with efilive just for the customer service paul seems very concerned about what people think of his product, and is right on top of answering questions or problems. after dealing with whipple, i'll will pay more for a product if the company cares about me after they get my money.

You will want one or the other unless you pay for both. Chingon ordered EFI live and it comes with the atap hardware and atap software, but you have to download EFI and enter a registration code. Actually ATAP doesnt even work because be bought the EFI and not ATAP.
