The tune was giving me the knock and most people who looked at my logs told me the knock looked fake. I tried the tune before doin the KR mod and everything worked out.

Here are a few of my knock logs before things were fixed :

This was a stock 6.0 PCM from an 01. Helped a little but didnt totally fix.

I had to get rid of my 99 PCM to get rid of my false knock problem. My truck runs great on an 02 PCM!

99's did seem to be too sensative, if he had a 99 i would be the first to sugest false knock but the other years dont seem to have the same problem.

Im running more timing now and have no knock

I was running pretty rich, now im more lean and when I get a stock MAF back in there I should be right where I need to be

(BTW- I dont think I mentioned this was a Hypertech tune that gave me all the knock, not a stock tune )

I'd definately get ATAP or EFI live before I put any resistors in.

Personally, I think this is crazy, without even having done "some" logging with different fuel octanes. You really don't know what your engine is doing - you're guessing.

ya, i was thinking the same thing. maybe i'm out of the loop here, but i did'nt get why false knock is suspected. tuning by ear on a newer modified engine does'nt seem like the best course of action. i'd get atap or efi before i started bypassing safety features. i'd put the cost of the materials toward a logging program. not to mention stuff happens, if you screw up your sensors somehow there's more $ down the drain.

ok ok, i'll order ATAP or EFI this coming up week. Which one is best, where can i get them, and can i use them on my other cars? Or are they like edit where you can only do so many vin #s?

Thanks for the input guys. Really appreciate it.

BTW, if my truck was built in late 99' could i have ended up with a 99' PCM? How could i tell?
