Over 100* (105-110) if I remember correctly. If I stayed into boost and let the AFR's run richer it seemed to lessen the severity.

There's really 2 issues creating the problem from what I can see. Modded, high performance engines create a lot more heat than stock engines (obviously) and also most electric fans will never be able to pull as much CFM as our stock clutch fans. I know some people may not agree with the latter but I would bet on it. This is not the first time I've heard of someone having to go back to the clutch fan. I know my efans are barely keeping things under control once ambient temps go over 100*.

I know the new 1/2 ton trucks have e-fans but what about the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks?

I've got LS1 fans on a 5.3 radiator cooling my 6.0. Never any problems. Just put some thick foam around the fans starting about 4 inches from the bottom and go all the way around until 4 inches from the bottom of the other side. You can use thinner foam to fill in the rest but I just left it alone. This will give an almost air tight seal and also will lift the fans away from the radiator a bit. However if you are towing 6,000#, I don't know what to tell you. Sometimes when my mom's work car breaks down, I tow it back, but it only weighs probably 3800# or so.

Just to clarify...I never have problems driving around town, even in traffic, even when it's 115* out. I only run into trouble when I am towing, and only when it's uphill for awhile. It cools back off pretty friggin quick when I start downhill.

I have never seen an LS1 connector, but I think they are different. I used the Nelson harness, and I added my own manual switch to make the fans come on high with a switch I installed inside the truck.

ok another question thunder, do u have power drains when ur fans kick on with the a/c because i was again reading up on the fans and people said that the 05 drain more power than the ls1 fans, is that true?
