Default killing a dead horese

Ok i know people say that e fans are good and i believe they are as well and have a set. However, has anyone actually towed heavily with the ls1 fans in heat. The reason is i was just looking around and found something on gm-trucks.com and people were saying that the fans would not cool enough under heavy towing and heat. They say the stock clutch fans are better. just wondering thanks.

I think that's true from what I've read here.

I have been battling overheating issues while towing ever since I installed e-fans. I can keep temps relatively under control but it's still an issue.

Well it seems to be consistent, and I have the 05 truck fans. I originally started seeing issues on the stock 5.3 with the Radix, then did a cam swap and smaller pulley, still having issues, then the 6.0L swap, still having issues. Not sure what the deal is, but the issues are the same on a couple of different setups and the radiator has been drained and refilled probably 3 or 4 times in the past year.

Id say the 05 fans or the Flex 292 would be a better idea. LS1 fans press right up against the radiator. If you think about it, all that does is pull air across 2 small areas the size of the fans. And they are kinda small fans. Versus the Flex 292's actually having a shroud. Which can create some sort of air pattern across the entire surface of the radiator. The 05 fans are much bigger than the LS1 fans too. Because of the 34" radiator they could do that. You guys with the 05 fans having problems too????

Glad to finally hear I'm not the only one that had a overheating issue with e-fans. Though I had lt-1 fans. I was hopping the set of 05 fans I have sitting next to my truck and a bigger radiator would help. I guess not

Thunder550, how hot was it outside when you where towing?
