Someone just gave me a K&N intake for free but I looked on a site and it said that part# was for 99-04 not 05-06 that they were a diffrent #. What are the diffrences if anyone knows and can I make it work. The part# is 57-3021-1

 

I think the hoods are higher...the heat shield wont quite reach the hood...

Other than that, I THINK they are the same

 

05-06 also have the electric fans, which makes for more room in front of the motor in the engine bay. It should work, it's just the tubing was designed around a more cramped engine bay with the 99+

 

Im curious myself, I have a gen II that was on my 04', It looks like it will fit even better on my 06' as the fan shroud will not be in the way, however, I do want it to seal against the hood so it will pull air from the fender/below the engine.

Can anyone confirm/deny if it will seal against the hood?

 

I have an O5' and i had to cut and bend the heat shield because the radiator and Efans seem to be a bit larger than Pre 05's. I also notice that there isn't a heat shield indent in my Under Hood foam, so perhaps it doesn't go all the way.

However i did notice the Swoooosh when i matted the throttle!!
