Default Just changed my fuel pump, what a PITA!

Just thought I would share my crappy experience. I went in to change the fuel level sender and decided to do the whole pump/sender assembly while I had the tank down. I highly recommend doing this w/ the tank near empty!! I siphoned out about 10 gallons and ended up storing it in my cooler for a couple hours The only other problem was the metal ring that holds the pump snug against the tank. It was a bitch to get it on w/ the new pump. I don't know why but I spent a good half hour just trying to get that damn thing down far enough to rotate so that it locked the pump down. Hopefully this new pump/level sender will last another 75K miles or so.

yeah, definetely not the funnest things to do...but way easier with a lift!!! oh yeah, and good call on replacing the whole assembly. I dont quite understand why you had such trouble with the lock ring......never had problems getting them on, just off....hmmm....

I here ya on the PITA. I ended up droping my tank three times to get it right. Once to put new in, once to put old back in so I could send the new in for warranty and the third time I finnaly have a working gas gauge

Next time, just take the bed off..... Only 8 bolts and unplug a couple of harnesses by the bumper. That's the way I do it at work.

I probably would have done it this way except I can't...this was on a Tahoe.
Hey Bigred your sig is great, that's the point I'm at w/ the T/A. Don't really want to spend $2K for a set of heads to pick up 35 RWHP!
