Default Jet Hot Sterling Coating...worth it?

As the title states, is the Jet Hot Sterling coating worth the money(250 @Tbyrne). I am looking at getting in on the Dynatech group buy and would like opinions on the coating. I live in the north so I have to drive in the snow for 6 months a year (may not have to this year), is corrosion an issue with these headers or do they hold up well?

Hey Trevor!
The Headers are stainless but i recommend getting them coated anyhow. The coating will not only protect the headers but will keep underhood temps down.

I ran mine with no coating for a little over a year here in Chicago with no corrosion issues. I did finally coat them when I went with a custom true dual 3" exhaust. I did it for performance reasons only.

How durable is the coating? Is it something that will have to be redone over time or should it be trouble free for years? I understand the insulating factor, underhood temps are less than desirable (yet not a big concern for me, ambient rarely exceeds 75*F here and I dont race).

Thanks for the replys so far guys!

I don't know what the Pacesetter headers are coated with, but I know I had some pretty decent corrosion of the coating after a winters worth of driving up here in NY. they are being great about it and warranting (sp?) it since it was within a year.

I have had my Hooker Long Tubes coated by Jet-Hot for over 5 years. Although I do live in So-Cal, that doesn't mean the headers/coating has had a nice life. I daily drive my car and it has seen rain and snow at least yearly. The coating is just starting to deteriorate, I guess I would need to pull them off to be recoated next year. The headers look great otherwise, and you would be hard pressed to know that they are that old. Jet-Hot's coating is soo good IMHO, I opted to get my trucks Pacesetters coated by them as well. Any header set I put on my vehicles will be coated by Jet-Hot.

Thanks, this was just the info I was looking for 12secSS. If I get the headers I WILL get the coating as well.

let me get this straight you are lookin at gettin stainless headers and then attempting to coat them in addition to being stainless? that would be a complete waste of money in all honesty. now if you are getting pacesetters, you definitely need to get them coated.
