Question ? Installing BBK80 TB on Whipple?

How hard is it to port match the Whipple inlet and install a BBK 80mm Throttle body with the whipple installed on the 5.3 engine. I assume the supercharger has to be removed & the back/inlet of the whipple has to be dissassembled to make sure no fillings gets inside of the sc. Also If I have to removed the inlet of the sc, what type of gasket should I use when reinstalling it & what torque should the bolts that hold the inlet to the sc be torqued down too?

Parish8 can answer this one, since his old whipple sitting in my shop has one on it. I haven't looked at it enough.

I had one on my '01 5.3L and did not have to do any machining to make this part fit. The 80mm throttle body comes with a spacer so the larger butterfly will clear the stock inlet diameter. With my Whipple, I really didn't see any performance increase so I took it off and reinstalled the stocker. The BBK 80mm made a lot of whistling when the truck was cold and the damn return spring was so tight that I was having problems keeping the truck at a constant speed without cruise. My best e.t. was with the stock TB....but I ran a 14.10 with the BBK....so at least it doesn't hurt performance.

I plan on installing mine without the adapter & port match the supercharger inlet to the TB to take full benefit of the larger TB bore. One of the reasons why I got the TB is my truck has a spongy gas pedal & was hoping to eliminate that. Also I was hoping it would help lean out my air/fuel ratio a little because the last time I dynoed my truck my air/fuel ratio was less than 10/1.

i didn't like the BBk/whipple combo at all. the spring was way too hard and just the slightest pedal movement and the truck would lunge, not in a good way, in an unpredictable way.

i just put it on without the adapter, the whipple intake hole is a little larger than a stock intake but not quite as big as the BBK, port matching them would probably help a little.

what air filter set up do you have? i got some prety good gains by cuting the front of the air box open and ducting some air toward it.

edit.. i see you have a beter air filter than i had. that is good.
