i have the volant and looked at several cold air intakes. I picked the volant because it was a true cold air design and not exposed like an open element. An open elemt may flow better, but with hotter air. I think all intakes provide very similar results on a dyno at cooler temps. The open elements may produce even more power at lower temps. However, when the hood is closed and temps rise, the volant excels because it sucks air from inside the fender. An open element has a heat shield, I just don't thinks its too effective. However, I too am looking at the new ram air intake from vararam. I wonder how it would work with a radix?

That is exactly why I just chopped the bottom out of my factory box (and bracket below) and tossed in the K&N drop in.
