I had the oil in the intake problem as well. My conclusion is there is too much suction in the valve cover, sucking oil into the system. I would use 1 qt of oil every 500 miles. I cut the pcv hose to the intake, put a fuel fitting in there which necked the hose diameter down to about 3/16". The system still works as it should, but i have absolutely 0 oil consumption now, and when i pulled the intake last time it was definitely much much cleaner. I think it had so much vacuum in the valve cover it would just suck any oil droplets being thrown around right into the pcv system. I was going to use a catch can, but i believe this fixes the problem vs band aiding it. FI motors are different though, they actually have a considerable amount of blowby whereas we shouldn't have as much.

GM's been using knock sensors since at least the early 80's...they actually used to put them in the water jackets, I got a shower when I removed mine on my 85 MonteSS. We used to try tricks like putting teflon tape and RTV on the threads of the sensor to try and de-sensitize them. They used to be real sensitive to how tight they were tightened too...if they were over-torqued the car would run like a dog because the knock sensor would become over sensitive and the "ECM" (that's what they were called at the time), would pull timing.
