Just turn them off. Putting way too much time and effort into this.

I'll keep the sensors and rectify the problem before I turn them off. As several have stated, they are a good thing to have.

you still probably need to turn them down like was stated before. but I doubt youve done that anyway... or will want to.

Actually you're incorrect.

not to sound like an *** (lol) but I've already assessed that. They still may need to be desensitized further, but I'll leave that as a last resort.

I had the oil in the intake problem as well. My conclusion is there is too much suction in the valve cover, sucking oil into the system. I would use 1 qt of oil every 500 miles. I cut the pcv hose to the intake, put a fuel fitting in there which necked the hose diameter down to about 3/16". The system still works as it should, but i have absolutely 0 oil consumption now, and when i pulled the intake last time it was definitely much much cleaner. I think it had so much vacuum in the valve cover it would just suck any oil droplets being thrown around right into the pcv system. I was going to use a catch can, but i believe this fixes the problem vs band aiding it. FI motors are different though, they actually have a considerable amount of blowby whereas we shouldn't have as much.

I plan on boosting, so the catch can should be a decent investment. Only peeves me that I wont get the can until nextweek so the top end I'm sure is already coated with oil already.

GM's been using knock sensors since at least the early 80's...they actually used to put them in the water jackets, I got a shower when I removed mine on my 85 MonteSS. We used to try tricks like putting teflon tape and RTV on the threads of the sensor to try and de-sensitize them. They used to be real sensitive to how tight they were tightened too...if they were over-torqued the car would run like a dog because the knock sensor would become over sensitive and the "ECM" (that's what they were called at the time), would pull timing.
