Hey, I am just trying to get more Gm trucks in truck pulling. Currently which a dodge event around the country. I think it would be cool to see a turboed pickup pull. Just looking for someone who back up what they say in different forms of racing. Who is willing to challenge thier truck to the max. Like me, I may not be as fast in 1/4 mile but can do well else where. Plus mods that I do improve my truck for all the events, including the 1/4 mile and street.

I would love to watch s truck pulling race/contest! Im sure it is cool-hell Ive seen some back in the 80's when I was a kid at the Monster Truck show. If I had enough money to have "Pull Truck" I might have one I would have to be really loaded though because there are alot of other rides that I would get first. I dont know how often they have these "Pulls" but what if you wanna race one week night! Your gonna have to drive around untill you see some guy hauling a boat or a flatbed and then your gonna have to compare the weights of what each of you are pulling. Im just playing about that **** man. Its not that truck pulling isnt cool its just your limited on competition. Hell you can find a race everyday driving a truck or car at the track or on the street. How easy is it gonna be to find a illegal street truck pull race. Im not poor or anything and I thank god for that everyday but when your thrill is going fast your gonna spend most fo your money ont rying to do so thats why I think some are dissing the pulling deal! Hell Ive talked to many people locally about putting 8.1's in truck and the guy I use for my truck has about 3 of them in his shop that are going into ol schooll camaros and somehting else. I also met a guy who has a a Impala(the ones that looked similar to the Caprices) and he is putting a 8.1 in it hell its probably already done by now he had to get a custom cam made and some other parts he needed that had to be custom made. I think these guys wer just saying from experience and knowledge that it would be cheaper and easier going another route. I think it owuld be cool to see someone pull it off if money wasnt a issue!

No I am just saying if speed is the goal. Then why have, 4x4. Drag cars don't. And no i am imposing my views on what a truck should be. Trying to understand why the need for 4x4 on tar. when goal is speed and street driven. the weight and drag od 4wd hurt mid to top end.
I do know that my 4wd is hurting my 1/4 miles, but need tires for pulling and mudding.
So I take it that, you(parish8) dont want that free lunch and beer then??

PLus talk with raylar engine today, the main weakness in the motor is the piston and wrist pin(non-floating type) and rod. once you upgrade these along with good machine job, you are good to little over 650hp on the stock crank and bearings.

Oy.

So you get it that AWD/4WD dramatically increases traction -- in fact were designed to overcome low traction situations?

You know anyone else that's gone 10's in a 4500-5000# street truck? If not, why are you arguing?

So, with machine work, new pistons & pins, and new rods, and boost or power adder, the 8.1 can make about as much at the crank as a stock LS1 with a power adder?

And last I checked, Jim's truck runs a quicker 1/4 mile when in 4WD. To be faster with 2WD, he'd need to tub it and backhalve the truck. But then there'd be a bunch of dumbasses pointing out that it's not a truck anymore...?!?

It's not ALL about the fastest times at the track. It's about creaming people on the street. On any given day and in any conditions I am able to launch at 6-7psi on my regular tires. Had I known I was gonna mod the truck to go fast, and it wasn't so expensive, I would have bought a C3 for it's AWD and 6.0L. 2WD trucks are NOT going to launch at that kind of TQ without slicks AND well heated ones at that.

1.6-1.8 60's on the street are why some people prefer AWD or 4WD...

650hp and too much torque to list. Heck I make over 480 ftbls now, I think parish8 top out around 680 or 640ftlbs on 105 fuel. With 650hp 8.1 should be able to make around 750 to 800ftlbs. And who said anything about a power adder, I am talking N/A. I am thinking that 750 to 800ftlbs should move a lightwieght halfton pretty damn good. Or switch to a forged crank, And move your limit to 900hp. Are We forgetting Torque in this??? I am sue somebody will chime with the calc for torque numbers.

I know that hook on the street is important, but why would somebody what to limit themselves in racing fun to one type. When clearly they have a truck capable of so much more??? And be able to show Chevy power to more than one crowd.
