That's my original thread. Mine has cought almost a quart of oil in 9 months.

On the subject of the commercial version vs. the DIY, I refuse to pay $80 for a ******* 5" peice of pipe with an SOS pad in it. That just goes with my whole mentality of I'm not paying your gouged prices for cheap and easy to make myself materials.
Thanks bootleg for the awesome tip. If it makes the rest of you feel any better, it costs $110 to ship the AMW can to Hawaii. I'm off to Lowes this week...aloha.

That is right. The drivers VC line that feeds into the top of the intake is the PCV line that you put the catch can on. The PCV valve is plugged into the valvecover. The line on the passenger VC is the fresh air vent for the PCV system. It's all connected together, kinda like a big loop through the engine. The place the VC line hooks up to on the TB does not have a vacuum on it. It just is a "MAF metered" fresh air source.

Can you get pics of the hard line you're talking about, and the sensor? I really haven't payed much attention on my truck to any of this stuff so I couldn't say. I'll take a look.

Okay, wow... I had things mixed up a bit.

I had the valvecovers off like five times now and I didn't realize there is a PCV valve in the drivers side there. (It's REALLY small, right? -- I'm expecting to see something like 1" in diameter. All that is there is a 3/8"ID rubber nipple thing.)

Here is the drivers side VC breather line.

Here is the passenger side VC breather line.

Here is one shot of the the "unknown" line...

...and another shot here.

I thought I recall seeing pics of the catch-can line coming from the back of the motor, which is why I thought it was this line. I can see where the d-side VC breather can be interpreted as 'the back of the motor' though.

The unknown line is your egr service tube/vapor canister tube (don't know the technical name)...it runs from a connector behind the motor to your vapor canister solenoid. The catch can mounts in series with the pcv hose that you pointed out in the picture (driver side). Check out bootleg's thread for the rundown https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...made+catch-can

hey bud, could you hook up your old catch can after your AMW can and see if anything is getting by it?

That's a great idea, but I already chucked the old one...sorry about that.
This past weekend when I did my cam swap I drained my AMW and checked the hose to the intake and it was dry, it's been on there for about 1k. Once I'm done working out KR issues with the new cam, maybe I'll hook up with another small filter from Lowe's...I really like that idea. I'll definitely post results if I do.

Anyways, back to the subject. How long do you have to run the motor after spraying in the seafoam? Thanks.

If you really want to clean your intake, it only takes a few minutes to remove it..B12 works great..then wash with soapy water..
Get a new style GM pcv valve with a small inlet hole and install it.

If yours is equipped with EGR valve...
I REALLY cleaned my intake up when I defeated my egr valve..

Only thing there is I had to drill a small hole in the base for air to pass
thru, to keep my Check Engine light off..No more sticking accelerater pedal,
no more exhaust carbon in intake..Have no "ping" problems like old
5.7's did when egr was defeated on them..

Just some thoughts on how to keep it cleaner once it's cleaned up.

While your at it, clean up the outside also..

The big vacuum hose that goes to the power brake booster...loosen the clamp, remove the hose, plug it (could put a bolt in it), Start the vehicle, remove bolt, and follow directions on the can. Make sure you get the vehicle into operating temperature BEFORE doing this, drive it around a bit, and let the seafoam suck in SLOWLY, or you could experience hydro-static lock, and your mill will be toast. When you remove the bolt from hose the engine will want to stall because it will be a huge vacuum leak, so you may have to finesse it with your thumb until you start sucking the seafoam in.

edit: exact location- driver's side, connected to the power brake booster behind the brake master cylinder
