Default Holley hi ram 5.3 na

Any real world experience on this intake on a na 5.3? Combo is tfs gen x heads, 228/230, usual boltons, 3800 stall. At some point id like to go boosted but could be awhile. I wanted the lsxrt but hear a ton of horror stories, small handful of good ones. Its also more of a show truck, so ill trade some bottom end for looks. Mainly is it driveable/easy to tune?

Driveability is fine and tuneability is moderate I would say. Its going to be lazy down low, and heat soak will be the biggest problem with tuning. Hot restarts will be an issue, but can be mostly fixed with a good tuner. Looks cool though.

Go with the TBSS/NNBS cathedral port intake. I think it was Hot Rod magazine that did an intake comparison and it performed right up there with some of the big name after market intakes. Of course it's only downside was that it couldn't pull the RPMs that some of after market intakes could.

Define lazy, as in stock truck lazy or worse? Im running morel lifters with comp pro magnums 7k should be doable. If the nnbs intake will work well up there I suppose ill leave it but its just hideous haha.

From idle to probably 3500 or so will feel soft...if you have a loose converter though you wont notice as much since it will blow right through that.

if a 5.3 is going to use a holley for NA expect 500 gear set, 5000 stall and expect to shift 8000 rpms

fastest na 5.3 went 11.0 with a holley but it wasnt a stock motor

I am going to go against the grain and say that it might work half decent on your truck. your stall will help skip the bottom end loss from the intake.
I had a lsxrt and went to the holley but couldn't tell the bottom end loss due to the stall. I could however tell the mid and top end gain over it.
black bear has my setup tuned very well and I have no problem dding the truck with the intake

Im gonna try it. Its 50/50 show and street. If it sucks that bad ill sell it. If I lose 10-15 ft lbs im not that worried. But if its like a prius off the line ill yank it. Ill post back in a couple months of the dyno graph as Im sure others are curious as well! Also, I have a 100 shot, that would def get things moving!
