wats up guys!! i'm about to buy my cam this weekend, i'm going for a TR 220/220 .551/.551 112 LSA but was curious on which is better, the low lift or high lift...i have alot of people tell me to buy the high lift one cus its better but i dont see how....bluecajun is running the same lift is hitting a 12.52. one of my good friends is running 220/220 .564/.564 114 LSA and he hit a 12.56 and his cam is still a low lift....so wich one is better??

Higher lift is free horsepower, go for hi-lift 220.

you are comparing a 114 to a 112lsa cam also.. the 112 would get into its peak power a tad sooner but other than that its no big difference in those cams. ONLY .012 isnt gonna make any noticeable difference

I have a 220/220 .561 114 cam.. I would opt for a .56x lift over .535 though anyday. The only downside to highe rlift is that its harder on springs so 918's are a must.

If I had to choose between those 2 cams both on 114 LSA I'd go for the higher lift model, but its no huge performance difference in those 2.

also, dont worry about their ET's.. the while setup determines the best ET and also weather plays a big big role in ET's

I choose a low lift cam not because of performance, but for longevity. As stated, higher lift are harder on springs, lower lifts are easier on springs. We put well over 60,000 miles on our truck per year, with a higher lift (close to .600"), I would have to swap springs at worst every year. Not a good option for a vehicle that is used as much as out truck. With more lift comes more torque, which mean more power if the torque is sustained. Power band will be the same though.

oh i see....yeah i'm still tripping out on my friend's 12.56 with 220/220 .564/.564 114 LSA, and he hit that time in the Valley over here in texas, pretty much the worst place to see wut ur time is because of the really high humidity and hot weather....but right now I have the Z06 springs with my LS1 cam. i know they can sustain up to a .571 lift, but i'm debating wether i should keep them on or go with the 918s. wut do u guys think?

Depending on what year LS1 cam you are talking about, the 2001-2002 LS1 had the same cam as the LQ4/LQ9. Having said that, the LS6 (LS6 = the engine in the ZO6 Suspension equipped Corvette's ) springs will work fine on it.

yeah my LS1 cam is an 01 and my Z06 springs have about 15,000 miles...you think they'll still be good to go to back up a .551 lift cam?

Which LS6 springs do you have? There is a difference between the 2001 and the 2002-up springs.

if you are going above .550 or even .540 lift then you want 918's just to be safe.. i run 918's on my .563 lift
