I always have to turn it down.
So with the mod in this picture you only put a valve on the suply to the heater core? Makes perfect sense I guess, then you can open or close it so you don't get stagnant coolant in your core too!

Im doing this tonight. I don't know how it is set up, but one thing to remember is that if you use too much force of the hoses to remove them from the heater core, you could crack it and that is a PITA. Im doing the valve.

If you are doing the valve you dont need to remove the hose from the core either. Just find a good spot and cut it there to splice in the valve.

Thats exactly what I was gonna do. I got some hose "kinkers" to stop the flow on either side of the cut Im gonna make. Which hose is the pressure one? I think its the one closest to the engine by looking at how the other hoses are plumbed up. Is that right?

This is the classic used car lot trick for dumping a car with a bum heater core.

Durango? What year? One of my wife's complaints about "her" 2001 R/T is the AC sucks as compared to "my" 1998. I have to agree, "mine" is much colder. Both have the 5.9 V8 and are the "old" body style. The dash was redesigned at some point. We took the '01 to a good AC shop (they help with all my engine swap hoses) and it checked out OK.

I'll give this a try w/ the valve since it will be the cool season here soon.
