So is there an issue with old/stagnant coolant clogging the heater core? If so, how would one go about flushing it?

You can also relocate your trans cooler or get a radiator with lower fin density. Both have obvious consequences.

Haha welcome to the forum, Matt! Yet another place to kill time talking about GM trucks! This site is awesome! I rank it up there w/ GMFS and FSC. All are great resources for our trucks. You'll find that there is information on some that is not on others, which is why I frequent all 3. I go to like 6 different GM boards!
