help with motor mods
#12
Small camshaft, matching springs, a good tune and a bottle of giggle gas. That should fit the bill. Power when you need it, nothing hurting fuel efficiency, and reliability to boot as long as you don't plan on shooting a full bottle per run.
Beating Vette's...come on, realistically all your mods will get you close to a stock Vette's starting point but anywhere after 100mph and you're toast.

I'll even go as far as saying the C5 Corvette, along with the C6 Z06. A friendly DD camshaft with matching springs and a tune to follow up will only net 35-45hp, a little more if the tuner knows what he's doing. That wont make up for the difference of 1000lbs and a **** poor front:rear weight distribution. He'll have to rely heavily on the bottle. Stock 5.3L 2wd Silverado's have trouble putting the power to the pavement, what do you think adding more power will do to a 6.0L without the supporting traction modifications? 305mm wide tires would be a good start, but then we're looking at new rims and tires, a new rear differential, ($1000 dollars in tires and wheels EASY, $400-600 in a differential plus bearings, seals, Synthetic oil ect) camshaft and tune ($250 for the cam at least plus $53 in springs and $200+ for a tune) then a nitrous system that will cost no less than $500 which he says he already has but it's not installed. Add onto that a tank of premium fuel these days will cost you your first born. I don't see the original poster of this thread spending that much when it took at least 4 posts to try and figure out what exactly it is we're suggesting for this truck. We haven't even narrowed down a camshaft yet and we're already hunting down Corvette's?
