Post 5.3 To A 6.0

this has probably already been talked about. but i am not finding in the search what i am looking for.i have a 2003 avalanche with
a 5.3 with 168000 miles.a friend has the caddy with a 6.0 with 42000 miles that has been wrecked.i want to use the motor and trans out of it. will it bolt in with out having to change the harness or pcm.they both are z71s.there is nothing wrong with mine. but the insurance company will let him buy it from them for a grand.if it will work i am going to get it.

What year is the 6.0?
Everything will bolt up, but your goin to need the PCM tuned for the bigger engine.

03 on the 5.3 and 05 on the 6.o.the pcm programing would need what to be done ?i have looked at a pin chart and the the pins on the pcm of the ext is different than mine on the avalanche.so using the pcm from the ext will not work with out changing the harness and every thing out.i did a swap on a 92 tune port car years ago.was a 5.0 and put a 5.7 in without doing any thing and car ran fine.i also want to put in a tow cam in .what would you recommend?i pull a 33 foot camper with it.

not doing it yet.first got to pay for the ext first.it has 168000 on it as of now.it has been serviced every 5000 miles with mobile one full sin oil.no oil usage in between changing.every 25000 the Eng and trans has a full oil and trans flush done.the only reason am doing this is the larger Eng and trans and lower miles. when done make me a offer.

There are several things in the tune that need to be changed, you can use your 03 PCM just get it tuned. Feel free to PM me if you want.

I cannot remember what year they changed the Reluctors... but i have a 2000 and put a LQ4 out of a 2004 2500hd in my truck... I swapped all my parts over that were needed..
You can use your Wiring Harness, just swap over any Sensor you will need.

Only sensor i used was the OIL Pressure Sensor, the 04 had a different Connector.
And i used the 2004 Exhaust Manifolds cause they didnt have the EGR plate on them.
Everything else i just swapped over from my 5.3..

Hope this helps!
Im goin to look and see what years have what Reluctor.

I would think the lq9 being drive by wire would complicate things with the pcm?

Avalanche is DBW also..
even if it wasn't, all you have to do is use your current complete manifold. bolt it on and drop it in.. the 2004 LQ4 was DBW, simple swap!
