Default Help ASAP cam/motor swap

I got a 2005 5.3 engine with 34,000 miles to put in my 2001 silverado which already had a 5.3 but with 260,000 miles. I put a scoggin dickey ht1 cam ls7 lifters hardened 7.4 push rods ls6 springs... Just got it in and fired up last night and everything sounds good. Drive it about 5 miles to get gas and back to work... When I got back it was ticking. One of the pushrods felt spongy pulled it and it was clogged. I blew it out and the tick went away drove it down the road and back and the tick is back... Not near as bad this time I let it sit there and idle and it goes away but if you hold the throttle a lil past 2 grand for about 10 15 seconds the tick returns and goes away as it idles... Any ideas!!!?

Sounds like you knocked some sludge loose. I honestly don't know the modern way to clean and engine. I have always heard to disable the ignition system. Drain the oil fill it with a good amount of tranny fluid and crank it for a short while.

Like I said not sure if this is pt.net or LS engine approved but you need to clean some of the gunk from that bad boy.

Sounds possible.. The engine had no oil when I got it I let it run about 20 minutes yesterday and changed the oil today. Today was the first time I tried to drive it and well you see where I'm at... I got the engine drone a dealership due to a cam/lifter issue... The first lobe and first lifter were the only ones showing wear but nothing sever at all. No wear at all on the cam where the cam sits on the bearings the tick is much less severe after I cleaned that one push rod... That kinda keeps my hopes up...

I would like more info on cleaning the inside of the engine. As far as what to use if anyone knows for sure. If that's what I need to do.
