Help! 4.8 to 5.3 conversion questions

Find a used 6L from a junk yard and swap it out.. MUCH better in the long run..

That isnt very accurate. Rated HP isnt what Id go by when making the decision. The fact of the matter is that the 5.3 is .5 liters larger than the 4.8. The 6.0 is only .7 liters larger than the 5.3 and only rated at like 15-20 more. When modded, more displacement will always make more power.
a 6.0 is going to run $1200 with a smokin deal, whereas you can get a 5.3 for $300 or so Id bet. With the extra money left from getting the 5.3 over the 6.0 you could get a cam and wet kit. That combo will smoke a 6.0 out of the box and youd still have more around town power off the nitrous. If budget is in mind and you can do the work yourself Id go for it.
